Main Pitch project:
-
November 2015 RFU approached the club as it had been identified that our pitches where not up to standard for RFU games. This was following a consultation with the council and RFU.
-
The past 6 months I have been working on the project for the club, involving in meetings week the RFU, St Edmundsbury and a number of parties relating to the pitches. This will be discussed later.
-
Over the past 6 months I have secured £115K from RFU and 3rd I cannot announce the where the other funding is coming from as it is embargoed until we receive the official offer.
-
The total project is going to cost £119172, costing the club £4172.
-
The project will involve the pitch having the top layer removed
-
Ploughed, Levelled, de stoned, fertilised, worm suppressor, re seeded. 660 tonnes of sand and 136 tonnes of topdressing to give a 50mm top dressing.
-
New drainage will be installed either on the diagonal or cross sections, depending on the current drainage.
-
The drainage will be installed 5m deep, back filled gravel and 50mm top dressing.
-
Waste soil from the pitch will be placed on the embankment to level this area, it will be landscaped and re seeded.
-
Work will commence on the Main pitch within the coming weeks, where the pitch will sprayed with glyphosate.
-
The pitch and embankment will be fenced off during this process.
-
The pitch will be out of action until August 2017 to allow it to be established and bedded in.
-
The council has leased the land of Chimswell road, as additional training area.
-
This project will be one of the biggest projects the club has undertaken in 15years or longer.
-
Once complete we have a far superior pitch than we ever had, and be something every member of the club will be proud.
